PUMPKINS….WE GOT PUMPKINS!

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, proudly displays her pumpkins while promoting the WCW Halloween Havoc of a few years ago. I had the pleasure of interviewing E (actually blonde Cassandra Peterson) several years ago and found her an intelligent, witty woman--and a genius at self-promotion. (c) Queen B Productions. .....You can't be any more pumpkin than this..... Actor Simon McPeak played a Revolutionary War hero who donned a pumpkin-head to hijack arms from British forces. The Phantom Rebel was a 1976 special telecast. (c) NBC

HAVE I GOT A PUMPKIN FOR YOU!

Without a doubt, the corniest Halloween art features a celebrity posed with a jack o’lantern. Needless to say, it is one of Hollywood’s favorite photo op. Enjoy these half-dozen or so pix of holiday gourds and guys!

Ed Begley, Jr. tries to outmug the pumpkin on his left. This scene from the Showtime acclaimed series, Shelley Duvall's Tall Tales & Legends episode The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Begley, son of famed dramatic actor Ed Begley, Sr., effortly glides back and forth from comedy to drama roles with great skill. He's one of my favorites. (c) Showtime

I've got a lovely bunch of pumpkins....The whole gang's here for Halloween with the Adams Family, from a 1977 TV reunion film that featured all the original actors from the 1960's teleseries. Glad to say John Astin (Gomez) is still very much with us; we hope he is for a long, long time to come. (c) NBC

Here's another still from the 1977 Adams Family reunion TV film. Carolyn Jones and John Astin prepare to do some serious pumpking carving. They were both very nice people in real life. I met Astin once at a book signing, and he could not have been friendlier. Ms. Jones I never met, but I did write to her while she was appearing at a dinner theatre production in Chicago. I had sent her a photo to sign--which she returned--and also included a lovely handwritten letter. (c) NBC

Mirror, mirror on the wall--who's the greatest pumpkinhead of them all? That would, of course, be the late, great Jonathan Winters. This unique still is from the Halloween Hall of Fame episode from TV's The Wonderful World of Disney from 1977. Wouldn't you love to see Wingters' outtakes from this special? (c) Disney
